Project Overview
This classic French kitchen project captures the timeless charm of European design, brought to life with Milano’s modern execution. Inspired by the soft tones, hand-carved detailing, and vintage appeal of countryside homes in Provence, this kitchen blends nostalgia with functionality. The layout was tailored to the client’s daily lifestyle, integrating a full modular kitchen setup while retaining the authenticity of French tradition.
Our goal was to offer a fully customized solution — balancing artistic flourishes with intelligent modular systems. From the initial consultation to final installation, every step was executed with precision and a passion for beauty.
Design and Architecture
The layout follows a traditional L-shape with a centered custom island, allowing for flow and functionality. Key design elements include:
- Hand-carved moldings on shutters and cornices
- Arched cabinet doors with inset panels and vintage mesh inserts
- Display cabinets with glass fronts and warm backlighting
- Symmetry in layout, true to traditional kitchen proportions
- A small breakfast counter attached to the island — ideal for morning coffee or evening wine
The ceiling received special attention with double-layer moldings and soft white paint to maintain harmony with cabinetry and natural light. Flooring was kept rustic — using distressed wooden tiles to echo old-world charm.
Materials & Finishes
Every element was curated to enhance the French aesthetic while ensuring durability:
- Cabinetry: Solid wood carcasses with hand-painted finish
- Shutters: Matte pastel with light antique glaze (eggshell white + faint sage detailing)
- Countertops: Natural Carrara marble with soft veining
- Hardware: Vintage-finish brass handles and classic rounded knobs
- Backsplash: Moroccan-style patterned tiles in subdued blues and greys
- Fixtures: Victorian-style faucets with antique bronze finish
Modular Features & Storage Solutions
Despite its old-world look, the kitchen is equipped with modern modular kitchen design features for effortless usability:
- Soft-close tandem drawers for cookware and utensils
- Corner carousels to maximize hard-to-reach spaces
- Hidden dual-dustbin system integrated near the sink
- Tall unit for pantry storage with adjustable pull-out trays
- In-built microwave and oven units behind custom cabinet doors
- Under-cabinet LED strip lights with dimmable control
This kitchen proves that a vintage aesthetic doesn’t mean outdated functionality — it’s the perfect marriage of traditional kitchen charm with modern kitchen design principles
Client Vision & Milano’s Execution
Our client wanted a space that didn’t feel like “just another kitchen” — she desired a space that evoked memories, had warmth, and served as the heart of the home. During the discovery session, we defined three priorities: elegance, ease of movement, and optimal storage.
Milano’s team responded with a moodboard of French references, sketches of carved shutter profiles, and finish samples. The final design married old-world romance with new-age modularity — a true luxury kitchen design that honors history while embracing convenience.
Client feedback:
“It’s not just a kitchen. It feels like a piece of Europe in my Indian home. The detailing, the feel — it’s everything I dreamed of.”
